Transforming Spaces: A Client’s Story
"Our client had a vision: a sleek, modern wardrobe that would seamlessly integrate into their bedroom. They had fallen in love with the SKYTTA sliding door system from IKEA, drawn to its clean lines and space-saving functionality. But as they started planning, they quickly ran into a problem—standard solutions just wouldn’t work in their space. That’s when they turned to us."

The Challenge
At first glance, the space seemed ideal for a built-in wardrobe.
The room measured 240 cm wall-to-wall and 230 cm floor-to-ceiling, and SKYTTA’s minimalist sliding doors felt like the perfect match. However, as with many homes, standard sizing didn’t align with reality:
✔️ The wardrobe frames were too tall. IKEA’s standard frames stood at 236 cm high, but the ceiling was only 230 cm, leaving no room for installation.
✔️ The wardrobe width didn’t fully utilise the space. The planned wardrobe was 225 cm wide, meaning there would be 7.5 cm of wasted space on each side—an awkward gap that would break the built-in aesthetic.
✔️ The sliding doors also needed resizing. SKYTTA doors come in a fixed height of 240 cm, meaning they had to be trimmed down to fit the room’s proportions.
With these limitations in mind, it was clear that a standard off-the-shelf solution wouldn’t work. The client needed a professional approach to turn their vision into reality.

The Solution
Rather than settling for a compromise, we took a precise, tailored approach, ensuring a perfect fit while maintaining IKEA’s sleek design.
✔️ Custom Frame Adjustments: We trimmed the IKEA frames from 236 cm to 229 cm, allowing the wardrobe to fit snugly under the ceiling without any wasted height.
✔️ Maximising Every Centimetre: To eliminate the 14 cm of dead space, we introduced 7.5 cm infills on both sides, centring the wardrobe perfectly for a true built-in look.
✔️ Expert Door Modification: The SKYTTA doors had to be cut down from 240 cm to 230 cm, which required adjusting both the metal framework and the wooden/mirrored panels—a delicate process that maintained their soft-close functionality and smooth glide.
✔️ Enhancing Aesthetics & Stability:
We removed the existing skirting, ensuring the wardrobe sat flush against the floor without gaps.
The frames were securely fixed to the wall, preventing any shifting over time.
The interior was fully customised to the client’s preferences, with a mix of drawers, shelves, and compartments for optimal organisation.

The Result
"What started as a design challenge turned into a truly seamless, wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling wardrobe that looked like it was made for the space. No awkward gaps, no height restrictions—just a sleek, functional storage solution that blended perfectly with the room."
The best part? The client didn’t have to compromise on their vision. Thanks to precise customisation and expert modifications, they now have a tailored IKEA SKYTTA wardrobe that combines affordability with high-end craftsmanship.
